Wii Transfer

Wii TransferEver wanted an Apple TV without having to shell out the cash? Do you already have a Mac and a Wii? Then say hello to the Wii Transfer. This simple little Mac-only app (sorry Windows users) lets you locally stream all your tunes and videos to the Wii for viewing on the big screen through Wii’s Opera Browser.

Surprisingly enough, it’s the closest you can get to a Mac-like experience. You can easily play all your iTunes (except for protected AAC files), view album artwork and easily convert videos to stream and play, as well as view all your photos in a simple slideshow. As a bonus, you can even manage all your Wii games and save files on an SD card for backup and recovery.

Others have done media streaming to the Wii before, like Wii Media Center X, but with way too many restrictions and never with a Mac friendly front-end. Wii Transfer is the first one I’ve seen that gets the job done with the experience you’d expect from a Mac.
