That’s My Girl If you’re like me, then the words ‘how do people come up with this stuff’ are never far from your lips when perusing the blogosphere. Sometimes it’s said in horror, sometimes in envy, but always in very real awe over what some of our fellow bloggers are able to dream up.

Gloo Man and Woman Remember back in elementary school all those cut and paste projects you would do for class? The joy of folding, pasting, and seeing your creation slowly come to life doesn’t have to end now that you’re in an office for 9 hours a day. Papercraft is sweeping the intertubes and you too can have your own little paper buddy to keep you company during those long days at work. The creative team at Gloo Digital Designs has designed a simple flash app that lets you customize and print a cute Gloo Man (or Woman). All you have to do is print, cut, and paste.

Twitter Logo When my friend asked me if I was on Twitter I replied with an emphatic ‘NO!’ I thought in my head: ‘no, no, not another social networking tool to waste my time with.’ From blogs and general buzz, I had heard about Twitter and already dismissed it without even taking a glance at the site.

The Hip LA Gas Station

Helios House, courtesy of NotCot.comAt a time when “going green” is hot on everyone’s lips, it’s nice to see a major company like BP doing more than just shooting off their mouth. Their new “Helios House,” a BP gas station on the corner of Robertson and Olympic here in LA, makes no pretense of being an answer to our present environmental woes. It doesn’t even claim to be a “prototype station of the future.” Built entirely out of recycle-able or recycled, non-toxic materials, this curious little pit stop simply does what it can…for being a gas station, of course.

From CNN Last month I posted my concern about having a Gmail account. After the post, a co-worker mentioned to me that her Gmail had been hacked into. How is that possible? It worried me a little.

A few days ago, someone sent me the CNN report on Google having the worst privacy policies. I’m not sure what this means for me and my future Gmail use. But it does make me wonder how my information will be used and whether or not I will be getting more spam in my inbox.

American Copywriter Logo His podcast, American Copywriter, is popular with Creatives all over the world and its little wonder why with musings like “Improving your creative life for tomorrow starts today.” A stop-the-insanity plea to creatives everywhere, Tighe’s recently posted podcast is a seven-step guide to regaining your sanity in an environment that is rarely sane. McTighe’s seven suggestions are the stuff of wonderfully common logic that is both refreshing and reassuring. Refreshing in that McTighe is a man with both feet firmly planted on the ground and reassuring in the ‘I’m glad it’s not just me’ sigh of relief it gives you—the overstressed, overworked, underappreciated Creative.

btt.jpgWe completed a new project this week. It’s the aggregate site for all Disney Blu-ray titles located at www.disneybluray.com. It’s a Flash site with lots of video and some slick ActionScript behind the scenes. It’s also another showcase for our Flash framework. We’ve spent quite a bit of effort over the past year or so refining the framework, and it’s nice to see it in action…the Blu-ray site construction was greatly accelerated as a result. Check out the site—you will be compelled to buy a Blu-ray player.
