Dumb Laws from Around the World

Did you know that in San Diego, you could be fined $250 for keeping your Christmas Light up past February 2nd or that detonating a nuclear device within the Chico city limits results in a $500 fine? That is but two of the countless dumb laws still on the books in cities today around the world. Just head on over to http://www.dumblaws.com/ and look up your State, City, or Country and you’ll be amused and amazed at some of the crazy laws they have out there.
Kind of makes you think. Why were these laws made in the first place? I mean, did people really have pet elephants in San Francisco to create a law that “Prohibits elephants from strolling down Market Street unless they are on a leash.?” Why is it “illegal to have more than two cats or dogs” in San Jose? It’s a good thing these laws are rarely enforced or Goodyear would be in violation every time the Goodyear Blimp flew over LA County.
Of course, knowing these laws could lead to some fun time. For instance, if your spouse asks you to change a light bulb in Australia, you could always argue that “only licensed electricians may change a light bulb.” Also, if for some reason you were imprisoned in Canada, make sure that you are given a handgun with bullets and a horse to get out of town. And don’t forget to run stop signs and ignore pedestrians while driving in China seeing as “Drivers of power-driven vehicles who stop at pedestrian crossings are liable to a fine of up to five Yuan, or a warning.”

“It is illegal to drive more than two thousand sheep down Hollywood Boulevard at one time.”
Time to rethink my plan…
Don’t forget, in New York State “The penalty for jumping off a building is death.”
Well… you would think so…
