Fuel For Thought

AmmoMy mom is not the “Betty Crocker” type. Growing up I didn’t rush home after school to the aroma of delicious home-cooked dinner. In my house it was more like which take-away menu were we in the mood for. So, in my adult life, more often than not, I go out to eat instead of cook at home. Thankfully, I live in a city that is full of incredible restaurants, in every variety and cuisine, so I am never without a ton of choices. And while I do like to try different ones as much as possible, there are a few restaurants in this city that I cannot go a week without frequenting. Ammo is at the top of that list.

Tucked amidst the daily hustle of the Hollywood Media District, Ammo is like a zen oasis of deliciousness. The clean, modern interior, exceptionally good ambient music, and incredibly fantastic staff make it one of those places that just feels good to be at. Ammo has all the makings of a “Hollywood Scene” but is able to carry off a smooth vibe without the slightest bit of pretension. And then there is the menu.

The menu is a healthy approach to comfort food that changes with each season and everything is market-fresh. Even the cocktail menu changes based on the seasonal fruit available. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, desert, any time you choose is the right time. I have yet to try something at Ammo that wasn’t tasty. Sweet caramelized apples over 10 grain pancakes, French Lentil Salad, Wood Oven Roasted Half Chicken with currants and pine nuts, Lasagna filled with the freshest seasonal ingredients, a Grilled Hanger Steak that would make the butcher jealous, home-made ice cream sandwiches and just out of the oven cookies that melt in your mouth.

Hungry yet?
